Haiyan (Yolanda) Disaster Relief

Haiyan, the worst tropical storm to date to hit the Philippine Islands in November 2013 has caused thousands of lives and misplaced millions of people. Unbelievable destruction was caused to homes, livelihoods and city infrastructures that will take years to be restored. VHICF reacted within 48 hours of the storm’s landfall, responding immediately with its emergency medical team to treat the many injured.

After its initial medical relief work, we provided more than 300 metric tons on relief goods and hygiene packs to effected communities, especially at the Island of Boutiques, Cebu.

The third disaster relief phase was the rebuilding phase, in which we and provided as new livelihood opportunity; 532 seaweed farms to the many that were affected by this devastating storm.
